Peter Sellers – One of the greatest comedians of all time makes his debut in Portsmouth

An English film actor, comedian, became known to the world public through his many roles, including Chief Inspector Clouseau in the movie series The Pink Panther.

Peter Sellers was born Richard Henry Sellers to a well-off acting family in 1925 in Southsea, a suburb of Portsmouth. Sellers made his stage debut at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, when he was two weeks old.

The Kings theatre is a theatre in Southsea, Portsmouth, designed by the architect Frank Matcham. It opened on 30 September 1907. It is operated by the Kings Theatre Trust Ltd. The building was designated a Grade II* listed building in 1976 / Image source
